AWSGlobalAwardWrapUp

Here’s a wrap up of our favourite takeaways from the amazing coverage Kablamo received for Most Innovative AI/ML Solution at the recent AWS Global Public Sector Awards. A real testament to the great work we’re capable of doing here in Australia in using AI/ML to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Pretty amazing to be included in the same breath as Palantir and Deloitte’s.

As Al put it to Silicon Angle: “The advanced technology within Amazon Web Services enables us to deliver our solutions at worldwide scale and democratize our ethical AI/ML practices.”

And here are some of the other best bits!

From Information Age:

International recognition has turned the work of “passionate” Australian data-analytics firm Kablamo into a global exemplar of AI innovation, after Amazon recognised its bushfire prediction tool as the most innovative AI/ML solution in its public-sector partner awards. It has built a reputation around its successful application of data analytics and AI/ML techniques to business problems in areas as diverse as home loan origination, automatic interview transcriptions, digital asset management, and more. But it was work with the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) that led to the firm’s latest global recognition.

From Silicon Angle:

Kablamo’s engineers spent more than a year working with firefighters and agencies to establish their current procedures and build a solution to automate them. “We recognized that key was integrating a vast amount of disparate data flows and inputs into a single, user-friendly platform that could handle near-limitless data,” Dorney said, noting that the company’s partnership with AWS was critical for the project’s success. Looking to the future, Kablamo hopes their solution will benefit firefighters across the world. “The global recognition means so much to the Kablamo team because it tells us and the firefighting community that we are closer to vastly improving the firefighting future state for everyone,” he said.
