NSW NATIONAL PARKS

A Digital Walk in the Park

The Challenge:

Managing more than 890 national parks and reserves with more than 60 million visits a year, New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) needed to transform how they interact with visitors. NPWS were using several disparate and siloed systems, making it almost impossible to provide personalised customer service. There was a real need for a solution to unify and simplify the system for both visitor and staff experiences.

The Approach

Kablamo ran over 20 technical design and discovery sessions with internal and external stakeholders, investigating the current digital landscape, external interactions and dependencies, product vision and user needs.

Through group workshops focusing on the visitor experience and product vision, the team created a joint view of the future for the Digital Backpack.

The Results

The cloud-based Digital Backpack solution is scalable, future-proof, and secure. The serverless architecture scales on demand, reduces operational costs, and enables quicker deployments.

Looking Forward

Visitors can now access all their NPWS interactions through a single, seamless digital experience.
